Two older women found two small Greek tortoises on Saturday while walking in the Tölz Kurpark.
The owner could not be located.
Bad Tölz – The animals are two to three years old and were probably abandoned, reports Tölzerin Susanne Ignjatovic.
The women turned to the Tölzerin, who keeps feeding the animals.
Ignjatovic immediately informed the police and the city's lost property office.
This Tuesday the animals will be taken to the reptile sanctuary in Munich.
"It has to be because the animals are protected species," says Ignjatovic.
Accommodation now in reptile sanctuary
The woman from Tölzer tried to find the animal owner over the weekend via various Facebook groups in the region.
"You know that turtles are escape artists," says Ignjatovic.
Nobody reported, but numerous interested people who wanted to take the turtles in immediately.
"But you can't pass them on privately." Anyone who is interested should now please contact the Munich reptile sanctuary.
"They already said on the phone that they are full of many animals," says the Tölzerin.
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.
