Germany may be facing the next heat wave.

If forecasts come true, there could be "crazy highs" and "life-threatening heat" in mid-July.

Wiesbaden – The temperatures in Germany are currently moderate, but the next extreme weather is apparently imminent.

If weather models prove right, the record heat of mid-June will be eclipsed.

Weather expert Jung speaks of "life-threatening heat" in Germany in July

The model of the US weather and oceanographic agency predicts peak temperatures above 40 degrees for Central Europe and Germany.

Graduate meteorologist Dominik Jung speaks of "crazy maximum values" and "life-threatening heat".

"I've never seen such weather maps for Germany," said the managing director of the weather service Q.met

According to Jung, heat is transported directly from Africa to Europe.

There would also be severe drought.

In Spain and Portugal, the thermometer could even show more than 50 degrees.

According to the meteorologist, the weather forecast does not have to come true.

"We have to wait and see whether this first trend, which has been repeating itself continuously for days, will actually occur," explained Jung.

Weather experts had already forecast periods of extreme heat in southern Europe in May.

Heat is coming to Germany: More than 40 degrees possible in July

Until then, there will be “feel-good summer with sunshine, a few clouds and pleasant temperatures”.

On Wednesday there could be precipitation in the north of Germany, otherwise it will stay nice at up to 26 degrees.

Thursday could fall a bit into the water.

In addition to showers, Jung is also forecasting prolonged rain.

But that is only a short interlude of the rain that is urgently needed in many parts of Germany.

For the weekend it will be very friendly again.

"It won't be too hot, but it won't be particularly cool either," said Jung.
