"The issue of environmental protection is especially acute in the period in which we live," noted Mayor Eliyahu Shabiru.
"If each of us bears the small responsibility of recycling and separating garbage in his home - Ariel and with it the whole country, will be rewarded. But more importantly, the main beneficiaries will be our children and grandchildren, who will enjoy a healthy and quality life as we strive to give them."
The goal: Encouraging recycling
Apart from Ariel, in July about 20 leading authorities will take part in the project, with the aim of encouraging more and more families to join the recycling revolution and separate packaging already at home.
To this end, Tamir Recycling Corporation has created recycling symbols that look like small bins in the various trash colors (orange, blue and purple).
The symbols can be found on thousands of packages at various points of sale and these make recycling much more accessible and clear.
The authorities participating in the project: Rishon Lezion, Or Yehuda, Netanya, Ramat Gan, Holon, Rehovot, Kiryat Motzkin, Lod, Ramla, Yavne, Ness Ziona, Kiryat Ono, Petah Tikva, Nesher, Sderot, Ganei Tikva, Shoham, Givat Shmuel, Afula and Raanana.
