A windmill on the Perlacher Mugl? According to the Unterhachinger SPD, the forest on the doorstep is a suitable location

Apparently, climate neutrality is not progressing as quickly as expected in Unterhaching.

Now the car traffic has to be removed from the calculation.

But the rest can only be achieved with difficulty.

Unterhaching

– In eight years, the municipality of Unterhaching wants to be “climate neutral”.

The way to achieve the ambitious goal is still being debated.

The CSU wants to supplement the climate protection concept with smart radiator thermostats and even more photovoltaics.

The SPD relies on wind turbines.

The climate protection concept of 2012 has been largely implemented.

The effect is limited.

Instead of one percent, the municipality currently saves three percent annually in greenhouse gases.

Armin Konetschny (Greens) could not resist doubting that the climate goals would not be achieved until 2070.

Although the issue of traffic has now been taken out of the equation, as one does not see oneself in a position to influence motorways, private travel behavior and commercial delivery routes, the "climate neutrality 2030" demanded by the CSU last year still seems far away.

There must be no more taboos

"There must be no more taboos," Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) encouraged the factions in the municipal council.

For some, that didn't go far enough.

"We don't need any further working groups," warned Konetschny.

"What we need are actionable measures!"

There would be enough wind in the Perlacher Forest

After geothermal energy, photovoltaics in schools and administration buildings and electrically operated leaf blowers, the SPD is venturing into a previously taboo subject, wind power.

For a long time, the district of Munich had argued about wind turbines in the Hofoldinger forest.

Conservation regulations and local residents who think wind power is a good thing, just not on their doorstep, made decision-making difficult.

In the meantime, the district is ready to relax nature conservation in order to put three plants into operation in 2024.

The SPD has identified the Perlacher Forest as a suitable location for Unterhaching.

Environmental expert Harald Nottmeyer wants to involve local residents and Bürger-Energie-Unterhaching.

However, Unterhaching only belongs to the Perlacher Mugl.

The large remainder is an unincorporated local recreation area.

In the town hall you stay on the ball.

The CSU does not consider all CO2 savings to be appropriate

The CSU treats the efforts of the SPD to achieve the climate target with malice.

Of course, wind power should be checked, "no question," says parliamentary group leader Korbinian Rausch.

Against the background, however, that SPD mayor Panzer recently suggested reducing the water temperature in the outdoor pool because of the energy crisis, one should take a closer look.

The proposal would have saved just 0.00015 percent of the annual emissions of all Unterhachingers, said Rausch.

Smart radiator systems could help

The CSU, on the other hand, relies on smart radiator systems.

The technology is efficient.

The thermostats, which are subsidized by the federal government with up to 20 percent in the purchase, would help save up to 30 percent of heating energy per year.

The potential of photovoltaics has not been exhausted either.

Like Konetschny, Rausch wants to woo homeowners and property managers.

"One thing is certain, we need to increase our efforts tenfold."
