The federal volunteers Felicitas Hörl and Nathalie Schauer showed full commitment during their time at the bathhouse.

Now they even arranged a theater evening.

Waldram

– Whether research work in the city archives, sweaty renovation measures in the office or conducting interviews with eyewitnesses: within a year, two young women have made themselves almost indispensable in the Waldram memorial site.

The fact that Felicitas Hörl and Nathalie Schauer recently organized an entire evening of theater makes the approaching farewell all the more difficult for all the dedicated volunteers at the Badehaus.

Before the performance of the play "Fremd.Sein.Heimat" written by Franz Csiky, the departing federal volunteers reviewed their experiences.

"The most beautiful days are the event days in the bathhouse," explained Nathalie Schauer.

The 19-year-old and her classmate at the time, Felicitas Hörl, first asked their teacher Eva Greif at the Geretsried Gymnasium whether the federal volunteer position in the bathhouse was still available.

They knocked on the door of their teacher, Eva Greif

"Both knew exactly what they wanted half a year before they graduated from high school," Greif recalled in her laudatory speech.

The only condition of the students: They only come in pairs.

"After the interviews, it was clear that we wanted them both," said Greif.

The teacher is also a member of the association "Bürger fürs Badehaus Waldram-Föhrenwald" and was quickly impressed by the work of the federal volunteers.

The dynamically gripping Felicitas Hörl and the calm Nathalie Schauer proved to be the ideal team, especially when accompanying school tours.

Gerlinde Berchtold, social and family officer on the Wolfratshauser city council, met Hörl in 2017 at a youth forum in the Loisachhalle.

"She approached me and suggested that I set up a youth parliament," reported Berchtold.

The fact that this idea has not yet been realized did not stop Hörl.

"What we really need is more appreciation for young people who are socially and politically committed," says Berchtold.

As "nerve food" for future challenges, she presented the two bathhouse helpers with chocolate.

The play is about flight and expulsion

Then the actors Michaela Stögbauer and Kurt Schürzinger as well as the saxophonist David Jäger made the 50 or so guests laugh with the performance of a play that was both humorous and thought-provoking.

The story of a pair of siblings who, after the death of their aunt, inherited a suitcase containing notes on the family's expulsion from the Bohemian Forest, fitted in well with the exhibits in the bath house.

The concluding get-together at Kolpingplatz was even more relaxed, with Hörl and Schauer telling more anecdotes.

Now the Badehaus-Verein is desperately looking for a replacement for the two federal volunteers who will end their service in the fall.
