A 23-year-old man from East Jerusalem was arrested today (Wednesday) after driving without a license and without seats, with a bucket used as an improvised chair.

A police officer who identified the young man using the phone while driving detained him for a roadside check during which he discovered that the vehicle had no seats at all, only a bucket and a cat.

According to police, the driver who refused to present licenses fled the scene in his vehicle, nearly ran over the officer, and hit other cars on the way.

The young man later turned himself in to police and was taken for further investigation, while the vehicle was found during searches in an abandoned parking lot.

The incident took place in the afternoon, during a police enforcement operation in the Beit Hanina area, when a traffic policeman noticed a driver using a cell phone while driving.

The policeman followed him and detained him for a roadside check.

According to police, after the vehicle was stopped, the driver got out of it, refused to present licenses and claimed to the police officer that he had a cat in the vehicle and he was afraid he would run away.
