Breathe a sigh of relief for train drivers: From Friday, July 8, 2022, the 9-euro ticket will be valid on IC trains in Bremen and Lower Saxony.
Railway and country were able to agree.
Bremen/Hannover – Well, after long negotiations and a lot of public trouble, the 9-euro ticket can be used from Friday, July 8, 2022 to travel on intercity trains in Lower Saxony.
Transport Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU) and Deutsche Bahn AG have agreed on this, reports the “Nordwest-Zeitung”, citing government circles.
This is reported by kreiszeitung.de.
The 9-euro ticket can also be used on IC trains in Lower Saxony and Bremen – starting Friday
From Friday, July 8th, the 9-euro ticket can also be used on the IC trains between Norddeich, Emden, Oldenburg and Bremen.
This was previously not possible because the Regional Express (RE) also runs in this section.
Bahn AG had demanded 5.24 million euros from the state so that the 9-euro ticket could be used on the Intercity.
Bernd Althusmann, Transport Minister of Lower Saxony, had categorically rejected that.
He only promised 1.5 million euros.
As the "Nordwest-Zeitung" reports, Bahn AG has now accepted this offer from Althusmann "after tough negotiations".
