In the Bundestag: Scholz announces innovations in migration policy

Chancellor Scholz has taken part in numerous international rounds of negotiations in recent weeks.

Now he will discuss what was discussed in a cabinet meeting.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) had announced further innovations in migration policy after the cabinet decision.

Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil and Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (both SPD) will present legislative proposals for easier recruitment of foreign skilled workers before the end of this year.

This should include the new regulation that particularly qualified specialists are allowed to enter Germany via a point system to look for a job, even if they do not yet have a permanent job in this country.

According to Scholz, women and men in particular who “can do so much that it is very likely” that they will soon be employed should benefit from this.

When asked why the possible deliveries from the German arms industry are not being carried out, the Chancellor referred to the upcoming “ring exchanges”.

Olaf Scholz promises Ukraine an air defense system.

The chancellor promises to supply Ukraine with Germany's most modern air defense system, the Iris-T.

In addition, the country will be provided with a tracking radar so that it can independently protect cities from air raids.

Berlin – Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has traveled from negotiation round to negotiation round in the past few days.

What exactly was discussed and decided during these negotiations will be discussed in the Bundestag on Wednesday (06 July 2022).

The cabinet meeting will begin in the morning, after which the chancellor will start with a report on a current topic.

Afterwards, the MPs can ask the Chancellor questions.

Before that happens, however, the first reading of the ratification law for the NATO accession of Finland and Sweden is on the agenda of the plenary session.

Finally, on Friday, the Bundestag will vote on the admission of the two Nordic EU countries to the European defense alliance.

The Federal Council should also make a decision on this matter on the same day.

The historically neutral countries of Finland and Sweden broke with their traditional military neutrality due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and, by applying for NATO membership, carried out a lasting paradigm shift in their defense policy.

Above all, Finland's entry is not only a political defeat for Moscow, but also severely reduces the country's nuclear capabilities.

Most of Russia's nuclear missiles are stationed along the border with Finland, connected north to south by just one road.
