(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 06 - There are six finalists in the first all-Italian edition of Piccolo Galileo, an award dedicated to scientific literature for children, girls and boys, an absolute first in the Italian panorama, conceived by Pleiadi, a Venetian company that for over 10 has been involved in scientific dissemination for years.

Il Piccolo Galileo is part of the Galileo Literary Prize for scientific dissemination, now in its 16th edition, promoted by the Municipality of Padua-Department of Culture, in collaboration with the University of Padua, and edited by Pleiadi, with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation of Padua and Rovigo.


    The six finalists were chosen, among 54 candidates for the prize for the Junior 5/10 years and Young 11/16 years category, by a jury composed of 4 jurors: Chiara Di Benedetto, President of the Jury, PhD, Adjunct Professor, University of Padua, expert in Communication of Sciences; Caterina Boccato, Head of National Communication at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Pierangelo Soldavini, Journalist Vicecapeditor of Nòva24, Il Sole 24 Ore;

Giulia Telli, Influencer and Head of Mamma che Libro !.


    For the Junior category the finalists are: ESTINTOPEDIA - Ed. Camelozampa - Author: Serenella Quarello - Illustrations: Alessio Alcini; C COME BRAIN.

Neuroscience for curious readers - Ed. NomosEdizioni - Author Marcello Turconi - Illustrations: AllegraAgliardi; The Garden of Jellyfish - Ed. Camelozampa - Author: PaolaVitale - Illustrations: Rossana Bossù.


    For the Young category: Galileo Galilei.

The messenger of the stars - Ed. Becco Giallo - Screenplay: Francesco Niccolini - Drawings: Massimiliano Favazza; Virus Game - Ed. Mondadori - Authors: Antonella Viola and FedericoTaddia; How is the Earth?

    By 18 September, 10 children between 5/10 years and 10 girls between 11/16 years will have the task of voting for the winners for the Junior and Young categories of the Piccolo Galileo Prize.

A special jury, called Public of the Boys, will also take part in the vote, which will be composed of young readers from 5 to 16 years old who will vote in presence in Padua, at the Agora of the Altinate San Gaetano Cultural Center, during the Awarding of the Winners scheduled for 14 October 2022, through an electronic device that will be delivered to them after having attended the presentation of the three finalist books for each category and with which they will be able to "televote" indirectly.


   It will be possible to register for free to be a member of the Public for Children through an online form that will be advertised on the Piccolo Galileo social channels in September 2022. All this will take place on the occasion of the Science Week, from 14 to 16 October 2022, in which it will also be decreed the winner of the Galileo Literary Prize for scientific popularization.


    "Organizing this edition of the prestigious Galileo Prize for the Municipality of Padua was an opportunity for Pleiadi to allow a series of innovations in the field, the result of the skills developed in over a decade of activity in the field of scientific dissemination. Among them, Pleiadi wanted to think about girls and to children, giving life to the Piccolo Galileo award, which is set in this direction, a national award with the aim of instilling a hunger for reading in the youngest and forming new generations more aware of science issues, also with a view to future opportunities at a professional level ", says Alessio Scaboro, scientific director of Pleiadi and of the Piccolo Galileo prize.
