BEIJING, SANA- Chinese astronomers have discovered a record number of undeveloped stars rich in lithium, a chemical element

Beijing-Sana

Chinese astronomers have discovered a record number of undeveloped stars rich in lithium, an important chemical element in physical cosmology.

A team led by researchers from the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences made the discovery with the help of the Large Sky Region Multi-Objective Fiber Spectroscope (LAMOST) and found nine undeveloped stars rich in lithium, more than twice the number previously known, Xinhua reported.

According to the researchers, the lithium content in the nine stars is about three times higher than the lithium content in the sun. Since these stars are fast rotors, astronomers believe that the accumulation of stellar matter may be the main factor in enhancing the presence of lithium in the stars.
