During the first half of this year, the General Company for the Wool and Carpet Industry in Hama achieved sales worth more than one billion and 231 million pounds, resulting from the sale of woolen yarn and woolen carpets of various sizes, patterns and colors through its outlets in Hama, Damascus, Sweida and Aleppo, according to its general manager Hisham Al-Abdullah.
Al-Abdullah explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the sales included 43 tons of woolen yarn, worth about 522 million pounds, in addition to selling 12,539 square meters of woolen carpets in Hama, Damascus, Sweida and Aleppo, and said that the wool factory produced 72 tons of yarn since the beginning of this year until last June. And 25,311 square meters of woolen carpets of various sizes, patterns and colors, pointing out that the company has conducted many experiments to produce woolen threads that meet the needs of public and private sector laboratories, especially the 100 percent natural woolen yarn and the 50 percent acrylic blended yarn to meet the needs of the private sector.
Al-Abdullah confirmed that a contract was signed with a private sector entity for manufacturing for the benefit of others at a value of 28.5 million pounds and a quantity of 75 tons, pointing out that there are difficulties in the production process, such as securing all our needs of diesel, in addition to the shortage of manpower. The company is working to develop the production process, as it organized a training course Professionally, with the participation of 25 engineers in the General Company for the Wool and Carpet Industry and Hama Yarn Company.
It is noteworthy that the company achieved profits during the first half of this year amounting to 248 million and 943 thousand pounds.
