A gardener-maintained quiet community now welcomes you to the cemetery in Zell.

The urn garden is very well done.

Ebenhausen

– Where there was an overgrown tomb three years ago, flowers are now blooming.

Nineteen individually designed memorial stones and stones form a circle around a large cross.

After the sisters of Maria Stern gave up their grave after decades of use, it was transferred to a gardener-maintained quiet community.

The idea for this dates back to 2019. According to the unanimous opinion of undertaker Ludwig Glas and Stephan Jürgenliemk from the trust company Bavarian Friedhofsgärtner (TFB), "the trend is towards cremation." To take care of the grave of her loved one, the children have moved away for professional reasons.

Nevertheless, a worthy memorial should remember the deceased.

In the center the cross

"Now it's like the first house on the square," says Marion Hirschberger from the stonemasonry company of the same name in Gelting.

A gravel path leads around the center with the cross - which dates back to the times of Maria Stern's sisters - in which 26 graves are located in a communal grave complex.

In the second row are 19 double stones for partner burials.

"We have revised the sisters' old stones," says Hirschberger, pointing to the beige-colored stones.

"The material had a very good substance, we didn't want to throw anything away."

resting place for ten years

The principle of the "Quiet Community Urn Garden Ebenhausen-Zell" is simple but effective.

The burial site is completely made with placeholders, so to speak, and is maintained by the Holzer nursery.

The relatives of the deceased acquire a resting place for ten years, including a permanent grave care contract.

The TBF sees itself as a link here.

They manage the funds, take care of the payment and check whether the work has been carried out appropriately.

Matthias Ruhdorfer, who was mayor of the municipality of Schäftlarn at the start of planning, is just as enthusiastic as his successor in office, Christian Fürst.

"It has got a uniform face." Jürgenliemk could not contradict that.

"A beautiful spot that has been given new life, so to speak."

Well received by the locals

The people of Schäftlarner themselves also seem to be impressed by the lovingly designed urn garden: two deceased found their final resting place here even before the official inauguration.
