Deputy Minister of Economy MK Yair Golan officially announced this morning (Wednesday) that he is running for the Meretz party leadership, with the aim of building a strong and proud Zionist left that fights for the image and future of Israel, as he puts it. "I will fight with the goal of fighting the corrupt and messianic right that strives with all its might to change the face of our beloved country
." He built around him an extreme camp in his views, dark in his values and dangerous in his actions.
A short time in the Knesset plenum is enough to understand where this group is dragging us all.
In the face of violent Messianic nationalism, there must be a counter-force that acts with the same determination and power, that does not engage in politeness and is not intimidated by criticism, that looks directly at reality and the public. "

Golan promised that after he was elected, he would work to build the Zionist left as a broad camp, with a share in the state leadership.
"I pledge that in the three months available to me I will build a strong, large and self-assured Meretz," he said.
"I call on past and present left-wing voters to come home."
In response to Golan's announcement, his party member Musi Raz said he was happy that the party's power had not expired.
"There are tens of thousands of functionaries in the party who will democratically choose, from a number of candidates, who will lead the party," he said.
