Headmaster Franz Hampel made a plea for youth social work at the Tölz vocational school at the most recent meeting of the district youth committee. His wish: another part-time position to cope with the growing need for advice.

Headmaster Franz Hampel made a plea for youth social work at the Tölz vocational school at the most recent meeting of the district youth committee.

His wish: another part-time position to cope with the growing need for advice.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - The state vocational school has three locations in the district: two in Bad Tölz and one in Wolfratshausen.

The two existing part-time social jobs have 49 hours per week.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

Due to the high demand, for years it has only been possible for specialists to offer face-to-face counseling on Gudrunstraße in Tölz and on Franz-Kölbl-Weg in Wolfratshausen, explained Christian Loesch from the youth welfare office.

“The craftsmen who are being trained on Bairawieser Strasse are getting a little empty handed.

A third position could close this gap.”

Above-average number of cases at the vocational school

One should not forget that the vocational school with 1700 students is by far the largest school in the district.

"And it has been noticeable for a few years that there have been an increase in cases," says Loesch.

On average, one person attends 54 adolescents per year.

According to the meeting document, this value is in some cases significantly higher than the average number of cases at other types of schools.

Young people's problems are becoming more multifaceted and complex

"The problems of young people are multi-layered and complex," said Headmaster Hampel.

For the past six years, the facility has also had the inclusion school profile.

“We have students with learning disabilities or dyslexia.

The youth social worker supports us there too.” But the specialists also deal with topics such as suicide, violence prevention and school dropouts.

86 percent of the cases involve regular students, i.e. adolescents who are doing an apprenticeship and attending school one day a week.

The remainder comes from orientation classes taught full-time.

The CSU district council sees socialization more in the training company

Michael Müller (CSU) found it difficult to get the additional position.

“Most students are only there one day a week.

Socialization takes place at work.

Mei, but of course you can offer advice anywhere..." said Müller.

It is about adolescents who are in training.

"They must have arrived in life." That is certainly the case for the majority of the students, Hampel replied.

But there are also situations "in which students have no support, in which they do not know who to turn to".

This was also emphasized by the head of the youth welfare office, Ulrich Reiner.

It is often about deeper problems "with which companies are often overwhelmed".

If there is no supportive parental home, then the person concerned can find help from the youth social workers.

School psychologist has other duties

Annelies Wiedenbauer-Schmidt (Greens) wanted to know whether there was a school psychologist and whether his (state-paid) position could be expanded.

In fact, the FOS/BOS school psychologist works four hours a week at the vocational school.

"But their area of responsibility is different," says Hampel.

Majority of committee votes to increase hours

Against the votes of Müller and Sabine Lorenz (CSU), the committee recognized the need for the increase in hours.

The youth welfare office was also commissioned to submit an application for the increase in hours in the Bavarian state government's support program.
