A 29-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested a little over an hour after the incident, when they were at a stop

Their run, doomed to failure, only lasted a handful of minutes.

A couple was arrested on Monday evening after the robbery of a convenience store in Nanterre.

A business where the man and the woman stole alcohol and then fled… by climbing on a bus.

It was shortly before 7:30 p.m. that the couple, a sort of Bonnie & Clyde from Nanterre, burst into the small Coccinelle store on rue Hoche, a recent business located between the Parc du Chemin de l'île and the A86 motorway.

Inside, they first stroll through the aisles of the convenience store then head for the spirits department where they grab several bottles of alcohol that they conceal on their person.

The couple then approach the exit of the store and play the intimidation card.

At the security guard who approaches him, the man exhibits a knife and the butt of a handgun stuck in the waistband of his pants.

But once out of the supermarket, the couple does not ride a scooter.

Nor does he rush into a car ready to start with a bang.

No, both begin a slight sprint towards the nearest bus stop.

Knife and dummy weapon

"They were seen getting on the 378 bus," said a police source.

The start of an improbable run by public transport which ended around 8:50 p.m. under… a bus shelter.

“They were arrested by the police officers of the Nanterre anti-crime brigade who had their precise description, continues the same source.

They were both at the Fontenelles bus stop.

On the 29-year-old man, the police found the knife he had taken out in front of the store's security guard as well as an airsoft gun.

After a few hours in police custody, the man and his accomplice were released.

The offense not being sufficiently characterized as far as it is concerned, the woman will not be prosecuted for this armed robbery.

The man, on the other hand, is summoned before the criminal court next May.
