Nursing crisis in the Erding Clinic: Due to the huge lack of staff, beds have to be blocked, the emergency room is temporarily logged off.

Erding – The Erding Clinic has slipped into a deep nursing crisis.

The sickness rate is at a historically high level, at least one surgical ward had to be completely logged off, and beds on others have to be closed due to the lack of staff.

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer (CSU) announced concrete improvements in the evening.

The hospital committee voiced serious criticism of the clinic management on Monday.

After a turbulent staff meeting on Friday – two more are to follow – Bayerstorfer is clear: it is obviously not just the high level of sick leave, it is above all the way the clinic and nursing service management treats the employees.

In addition, he had received several letters of complaint – from patients who had been forwarded, but also from nurses.

For Bayerstorfer, the measure is full.

It is now unbearable "that the remaining staff should now do even more to cover the services".

After the works meeting, he was "shocked" by the effects: "The situation is very serious."

Dirk Last spoke of a "very serious situation".

In the first quarter, there were not only an extremely large number of Covid patients, but (to date) a very high level of sick leave in the workforce.

He singled out two days: 64 sick people on March 10, 2019 and 142 sick people exactly three years later, an increase of 120 percent.

The house must manage the balancing act of not having to turn away any patients.

"I am appalled at the way people are treated in this house, it's not just because of Corona." Something has to change now, "otherwise we can recruit whoever we want".

That will be unsuccessful as long as the employees are not valued.

"Anyone who doesn't do that is not a manager," said Gotz, who was convinced: "The frustration has grown over the years." He could imagine bringing in experts from outside to improve the situation.

Nicole Schley (SPD) wanted to know from Last: "What are you doing?" He spoke of various measures that he did not want to explain publicly.

Martin Huber (AfD) liked that.

He found that the grievances should not be addressed "as long as the press is in the room".

The committee then did not meet publicly for several hours until the early evening – with concrete results, according to Bayerstorfer: a 150-euro Springer bonus by the end of the year, double the Erding allowance, possibly childcare and the involvement of a personnel agency (report follows).
