A hunter eventually had to shoot the marsupial in a forest.
Mönchengladbach – On Wednesday morning, a witness could not believe his eyes: "There is a white kangaroo on the road," he alerted the police.
The kangaroo escaped from its enclosure on Wednesday morning and hopped around in the driveway area of the A44 near Mönchengladbach-Odenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia, reports 24RHEIN.

The kangaroo's excursion caused a large police operation.
The forces tried to capture the marsupial for around two hours.
It hopped from the Holz motorway junction in the direction of a nearby forest.
But the capture attempts were unsuccessful.
The owner didn't stand a chance against the kangaroo either.
At around 6 a.m. the kangaroo finally had to be shot by a hunter.
The police speak of "averting danger" as the reason, because it could not be ruled out that the kangaroo would hop back onto the freeway.
It was not the first time that a kangaroo had escaped in Mönchengladbad: in November 2020, a kangaroo made a former military site unsafe.

According to the highway police, traffic on the highway and the surrounding streets was not affected during the entire operation.
The numerous emergency services on site would have taken care of that.
A kangaroo escaped in Goch a week ago.
However, the animal was safely captured there.
