Opinion | Nathan Zehavi and Channel 14: The Silence of the Sheep of the Left Israel today

2022-07-06T04:17:10.681Z

I expected Zehavi's call for murder to provoke a renunciation and condemnation from the floor, especially in light of the fact that it was not said by him in Idna Dritha • But the leftist camp apparently has its own rules of morality

I heard the horrifying cry of Natan Zehavi ("Let the Channel 14 studio burn on its seats") when I was on my way to be interviewed in this studio.

Although I've never met Zahavi or done anything bad to him - or anyone else - I'm one of the people this broadcaster longs to see dead.

Not only does he yearn inwardly, but literally announces it with pride and a wavy brush.

Moreover, he did so on July 4, an unparalleled symbolic date, for for the Jewish people this date is not just American Independence Day and the day of the release of the hostages in Operation Entebbe.

On July 4, in a chilling coincidence, Natan Zehavi's wish came true - innocent Jews were burned to death.

On July 4, 1941, thousands of Jews were forcibly taken to the central synagogue in Nazi-occupied Riga.

The doors were closed, and the building that was set on fire burned on its occupants, just as in Natan Zehavi's vision.

The burning of the Jews in Riga marked the beginning of the end of the Jews in Latvia and other areas of Nazi occupation in Europe, but it was not the only act of the devil committed by the Germans and local collaborators among our people.

I can not understand how a Jew can wish a similar fate for his brother, whose whole sin is in the ideological affiliation with the right-wing camp and in holding opinions different from those of Zehavi.

I do not know to what abysses of hatred and pure evil a man must descend, in order to conceive of his sickly wish such a wish.

But I know another thing: the silence that prevailed in Zehavi's political camp after his horrific remarks indicates that the disease is not just his domain.

She has long been involved in the ideological circles to which he belongs.

I sincerely expected that Zehavi's call for murder would provoke renunciation and condemnation from the floor, especially in light of the fact that it was not uttered by him in Idna Dritha or as a slippery slope, but was made public at least twice.

Nevertheless, even in Israel the controversies and quarrels are well known, the desire to see a political opponent go up in flames is an escalation and a dangerous sign of a decline from normalcy.

In such a case, renunciation and condemnation are the minimum expected of any normal moral society, but Natan Zehavi's political camp apparently has its own rules of morality:

Left-wing opinion leaders pretended not to hear him;

Righteous columnists, those who crucify right-wing MKs for every rude word, have made themselves blind and deaf;

But above all, the politicians from the left-wing parties, who are shouted at and shaken by every bit of verbal violence, have increased - unless it comes from among them and from their people of peace.

In fact, for them silence is less surprising.

If they themselves stick to the right lovable derogatory nicknames, like "Dark Forces" or "Poison Machine," how and why would they protect Zahavi?

I would call the silence of the left "the silence of the sheep," if it were rooted in fear.

But the people of the left are not afraid of Natan Zahavi or his many like-minded people, who tend to swear extremely vicious curses at ideological opponents.

Their silence is a sign of agreement.

Were we wrong?
