Realschule has a principal again

After almost a year as acting director, Gundula Socher is now the official rector of the Ferdinand von Miller secondary school.
She is at the head of a school in which she has already changed a lot in five years.
She wants to continue on this path.
Fürstenfeldbruck – Gundula Socher has been deputy principal at the largest secondary school in the district for five years.
Her predecessor Stefan Heimes, now Ministerial Commissioner for the Realschulen in Upper Bavaria West, introduced her to the office as his successor.
In his speech, he said that her professional experience and pedagogical skills made her ideal for the position.
A job that she initially did not want to pursue after studying mathematics and theology, as Socher revealed.
First she worked for seven years as a software consultant for DOS programs, then in the company's marketing department as a press officer.

"As a teacher, you don't know the skills that well."
When the six-stage Realschule was introduced by referendum, she took the opportunity to go back to teaching.
"I've never regretted it." First at the Realschule Dachau, then in Odelzhausen and since 2017 in Bruck.
During this time she learned a lot.
Gundula Socher had already attended the Ferdinand von Miller secondary school as an external evaluator.
"I knew the school a little bit, and I also knew what I wanted to change," she recalled.
"The college got involved." Socher immediately began to implement their ideas of a modern school, said the head of the staff council, Jörg Spengler.
He appreciates the trusting cooperation and also controversial discussions.

Gundula Socher attaches great importance to team spirit, praised Michael Heimes.
And that is important, because a school management today is a school management with many tasks that need to be distributed.
"Management can only be managed as a team."
Gundula Socher didn't necessarily want to become a headmistress.
"I've always felt very comfortable in the second row." But when Heimes was appointed Ministerial Commissioner, she had an inkling of what was to come.
First involuntarily and then consciously she decided to do it.
Teaching has changed over the past five years.
There are method weeks, instead of a theater, a film AG and other AGs that have been expanded.
The fact that the college got involved with everything motivated her to apply.
"I want to continue on the path I started in February 2017."
Many good wishes accompany you on this journey.
"They have the instinct to steer the school through time," said Deputy District Administrator Martina Drechsler.
Because Corona has been in a state of emergency for three years, and there has also been a wave of refugees.
Bruck's deputy mayor Christian Stangl wished her "a lot of strength, success and the necessary bit of luck" in mediating between different interests and the new design possibilities.
Socher has skilfully steered the school over the past few months," said Inge Jakobi, chairman of the association.
