Monika Wiesböck hears everything.

Not because she wants to, but because she has to.

When the pensioner sits at the window of her house on the B 307 in Kreuth, she sometimes wishes she was somewhere else.

Kreuth

- Wiesböck had therefore prepared a list for the most recent town hall meeting in Kreuth.

She called for permanently installed radar stations, more motorcycle and sports car controls and the punishment of parking violations.

Mayor Josef Bierschneider (CSU) countered with high hurdles for fixed speed cameras and the already commissioned Zweckverband Kommunales Dienstzentrum Oberland (KDZ).

"He flashes in town and punishes parking violations." When it comes to motorcycles, the municipality regularly requests the police control group, said Bierschneider.

"Outside of town, the community must not flash."

This does not help Wiesböck.

"I get everything," she insists.

"How motorbikes turn up at traffic lights, how cars rush by, how heavy goods traffic thunders through even at night." Soundproof windows would help.

"But at the time they weren't even an issue during construction." When the weather is nice, there are up to 1,000 motorcycles a day.

"Up to 35 at a time.

And there will be more.”

Official figures do not show a linear increase

The official figures, measured by the Rosenheim Road Construction Office every five years, document the increase for the most recent measurement in 2015. However, a linear increase cannot be identified.

The numbers of the most recent measurement from 2021 - it had been postponed due to the corona - have not yet been evaluated.

But: Bierschneider also had doubts about the results of the past measurements, he says when asked.

"We commissioned the special-purpose association to measure." In 2018 and 2021, the service provider installed a measuring device at two locations for three weeks each.

The result: "The official data reflect the traffic very precisely," says Bierschneider.

On the northern edge of the municipality near Reitrain, the measuring point would have counted an average of 11,545 vehicles per day in 2018.

At the southern point near Glashütte there were 4276 vehicles.

Three years later, the number had dropped slightly: 11,166 at Reitrain, 4,097 at Glashütte.

"About half of them drive out on the other side," sums up Bierschneider.

"It hasn't increased in the three years." The fact that the more than 11,000 vehicles are more than the 9,336 vehicles last measured by the road construction office only gives a limited indication of an increase.

Because: The measuring point of the special purpose association was positioned further north than that of the road construction office, which is why the numbers can only be roughly compared - some could have turned earlier.

Regular speed camera trailers on site

The mayor explains that the municipality is not responsible for a toll, as Wiesböck had demanded.

The only things left for the pensioner are speed cameras and police checks.

"Since 2021 we have had the KDZ speed camera trailers in town on a regular basis," says Bierschneider.

And police superintendent Robert Ruttkowski from Bad Wiessee explains: "The control group motorcycle of the police headquarters Oberbayern Süd is in the area of the Achenpass and thus in the municipality of Kreuth."

In the past three years, five misdemeanors, 20 violations that result in a traffic violation report, and around 50 violations in the warning area have been identified.

"The group checks the route at irregular intervals."

100 measurements in 2021

Speed measurements were taken along the B 307 to the Achenpass and at several points in town.

They would be looked after by measuring vehicles from the Holzkirchen motorway police and officials from Bad Wiessee with hand-held laser measuring devices.

“Around 100 measurements were carried out here in the municipal area in 2021.

There were 78 reports and 347 warnings.”

Ruttkowski, who is responsible for traffic with the police, further explains: "From the police point of view, monitoring the speed in the area is sufficient in relation to the complaint rates." This is also reflected in the accident situation picture.

"The Achenpass can therefore not be described as a focal point.

Regarding the noise, the police officer says that the motorcycle control group is finding tampering with exhaust systems less and less often.

This is due to the control pressure - but also new flap exhaust systems.

"With these, the legal framework is exhausted and the motorcycles are then legally loud in most driving conditions." Unfortunately, the behavior of the driver is increasingly responsible for noise.

“Motorcycles and sports cars tend to be accelerated at high speeds without shifting gears in good time.

Monika Wiesböck is frustrated by the situation.

She now travels to Tyrol more often.

"It's quieter there, I can escape the noise."
