The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that any threatening measures taken in Sweden and Finland after their accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will be met with a Russian response.
According to TASS, the ministry said in a statement today: The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO will put them under greater influence of the United States of America and they will become targets of the alliance's military planning.
The statement added: Any threatening measures taken in Sweden and Finland after their accession to NATO will be met with an inevitable response from Moscow.
Finland and Sweden signed a protocol to join (NATO) yesterday.
