The activities of the (Aleppo Trail) festival, organized by the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Trust for Development and the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, kicked off today in the old city markets and includes economic, social and cultural activities, competitions and drawings for children.
Member of the Executive Office of the Aleppo Provincial Council, Eng. Zikra Hajjar, in a statement to SANA reporter, pointed out the importance of this festival, which comes with the advent of the blessed Eid al-Adha, and its organization in the ancient Aleppo markets, which is gradually returning to life through restoration work and the start of the economic movement in it, the most important of which are Al-Harir, Al-Saqatiyah, Al-Ahmadiya and Pistachio Square. The role of the governorate and the concerned authorities, in coordination with the local community, to hold this event and attract attention to the old city and its heritage neighborhoods, while providing all the necessary transportation facilities for a number of Aleppo neighborhoods.
The director of the legal response at the Syrian Trust for Development, lawyer Bashar Askif, said that the launch of the festival targets several activities from civil associations, business women, children and the local community to revive economic life and revive ancient markets with their intangible heritage, rituals and ancient times.
The director of the Old City of Aleppo, which is affiliated with the Aleppo City Council, Engineer Ahmed Al-Shihabi, explained that the goal of the three-day festival is to shed light on the markets of the ancient city of Aleppo and the return of the pulse of life to it after its restoration and revitalization through economic, artistic, cultural, entertainment and shopping activities, and to highlight its intangible heritage.
A member of the Women Entrepreneurs Committee of Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Suha Khudair, pointed out that the Chamber’s role was supportive of the return of glory to the old Aleppo markets and a reminder of Aleppo’s commercial and economic value on the Silk Road and global trade to enhance its role and highlight the importance of its intangible heritage.
Member of the Board of Directors of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, Samir Koussan, explained that today’s event is to encourage the return of Aleppo’s commercial path to what it was by rehabilitating and building commercial markets affected by terrorism and operating them from various sectors and stakeholders with the aim of returning merchants to their shops and activating the role of markets.
