The lethal weapon against theft and counterfeiting is (already) in a French watch

Awake has just unveiled a limited edition in NASA colours, featuring a unique identifier embedded in its sapphire crystal.

A French watch approved by NASA is already a first feat in itself accomplished by the young French brand Awake.

We also find on its new limited edition Mission To Earth all the aesthetic codes of the American space agency, starting with its white color associated with a few touches of red.

But a watch in the colors of the famous American space agency is basically neither the first nor the last that we will see.

The real innovation of this limited edition of 250 copies, available for pre-order at €990 on the brand's website, is elsewhere.

It carries on board the future lethal weapon against watch theft and counterfeiting, two scourges that are increasing with the success of the global watch market.

In effect,

each of these Awake Mission to Earth watches has a tamper-proof unique identifier embedded directly into the edge of its sapphire crystal.

All the information and certificates contained in the associated digital double are simply tamper-proof.

They also give you access to a complete history of the life of this watch since its first sale, making it impossible to buy a stolen watch.

Simple, effective, and absolutely tamper-proof.

Blockchain technology guarantees the authenticity of the part purchased, but also makes it possible to trace its complete itinerary in terms of successive owners, and this in a tamper-proof manner.

Awake

While a few days ago, a vast network of trafficking in stolen and counterfeit watches was dismantled in France, such a novelty should make a lot more noise in the watchmaking seraglio.

It may even seem surprising that it was a very young brand like Awake, which still only produces a few thousand watches a year, which first adopted this Blockchain technology.

One might have expected the adoption of such a solution by the biggest names in luxury watchmaking.

Especially since the solution proposed by the company Stiss is Swiss: its name actually means Swiss Technology Inside Smart Sapphire... The unique identifier engraved in the sapphire crystal according to the Arianee protocol constitutes for them, but also for customers and specialists second-hand models,

a simply unstoppable solution against theft and counterfeiting.

Note that Arianee already collaborates with Breitling, Vacheron Constantin and the Richemont group, notably owner of Cartier and IWC.

Awake

Beyond its highly secure side, the case of this watch is made of 70% recycled titanium, so as to minimize the use of virgin materials, with a significantly higher carbon impact.

It houses a modified Japanese Miyota 9015 movement, which has approximately 40 hours of power reserve.

In addition, each box, inspired by the storage boxes used on missions, contains a certified meteorite fragment from the asteroid VESTA, more than a billion years old.

A meteorite which crashed in the desert of Tataouine, in Tunisia, on June 27, 1931. Even more, partnership with NASA obliges, it is enough to approach its smartphone of its watch to have access to the exclusive contents transmitted by NASA thanks to the cameras on board the international space station ISS.

Awake

The dial of this Awake, 40 mm in diameter, water-resistant to 100 meters, is inspired by the famous “cupola”, the panoramic observation window of the International Space Station (ISS).

Its sandblasted matte gray finish gives it a technical and spatial appearance, with additional applied ingot hour markers reminiscent of the separations of the six peripheral portholes of the Cupola.

Not content with adding depth, the red aluminum flange engraved with a countdown stands out all the more, as does the end of the seconds hand.

On the back, the sapphire crystal shows the oscillating weight of the automatic caliber carrying the message

Dare Mighty Things

(Dare Big Things) encoded in the patterns of Perseverance's parachute, the Rover having landed on Mars.

As for the bracelet accompanying this very spatial Awake, it is inspired by the extra-vehicular outfits of astronauts and is made by injection of Biopoly, an exclusive material derived from castor oil.
