The music association Eichenau (MVE) was founded 60 years ago.

At that time, members of the warriors' and soldiers' association got together.

The idea of making music together has grown into much more over the years: the musicians have now traveled to exotic places and represent their homeland.

Eichenau – You don't have to know Chinese to know who's playing on the big stage.

A German word is emblazoned between all the characters: Eichenau.

It was a courtesy gesture from the hosts to the musicians from Bavaria.

In 2012, the MVE toured China for two weeks.

"For decades, the highlights of club life have always been the trips," says MVE spokeswoman Barbara Neider.

And: "China was the absolute highlight." A cultural exchange made it possible.

Almost every day, the Great Symphonic Wind Orchestra conducted by Helmut Buchbauer gave concerts in schools and universities in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan.

The MVE has been an integral part of the community of Eichenau for 60 years.

Today he is considered a figurehead and "musical calling card".

The repertoire ranges from traditional Bavarian-Bohemian brass music to the most demanding symphonic works.

FFB newsletter.)

The MVE was founded in 1962 by members of the Warriors and Soldiers Association.

Max Kerschberger was in charge.

The conducting of the 18 musicians was handed over to Gerhard Becker and the adjoining room in the Gasthof zur Post, which the Riedl family made available free of charge, served as a rehearsal room.

Two years later, the brass band broke away from the warriors' and soldiers' association and joined the music association of Upper and Lower Bavaria.

On August 17, 1972, the MVE was registered with the district court.

The following year the uniform was replaced by the Miesbach costume.

The musicians were fond of traveling right from the start.

The first major trip went to Ostrava in Czechoslovakia in 1970.

Stations like France, Switzerland, Wischgorod (and also all other Eichenau partner cities) and Tuscany followed.

In Brussels, the troupe was allowed to create music for an "Oktoberfest".

At the invitation of the Bundestag Vice President Gerda Hasselfeldt, the MVE was represented at the opening of the day of "Insights and Outlooks" in 2006 with a performance in front of the Reichstag in Berlin.

In the summer of 2013, another extraordinary opportunity arose: the musicians were allowed to be part of the opening of the Munich Opera Festival.

With conductor Philipp Lüdecke, they performed alongside the professionals of the Munich State Opera in front of around 10,000 spectators.

More special moments were to follow, for example in the Hirschgarten, in the Herzkasperl tent and at folk festivals.

Five ensembles

Today, the music association consists of five ensembles, a wide range of training courses, its supporting members and the board of directors.

First chairman is Florian Prestl, second chairman Katrin Fischer.

The Large Symphonic Wind Orchestra has around 60 members.

Above all, Barbara Neider emphasizes the commitment of conductor Helmut Buchbauer.

He was succeeded by Philipp Lüdecke in 2013.

In order for the association to continue to exist, youth work is essential.

In 2000, Therese Schwarz initiated and expanded the youth wind orchestra "JuBla".

Young people are also very fond of travelling, visited Latvia in 2019.

In the meantime, there is also a wide range of courses on offer.

The children's ensemble is still quite new.

Led by Gail Craig, it offers primary school aged children a chance to make music in a group setting.

Until the outbreak of the corona pandemic, two New Year's concerts took place every year in the gym of the Starzelbach School and the "Se(e)renade" at the bathing pond.

This is also planned again, as far as Corona allows.

Incidentally, international contacts did not come to a standstill even during the pandemic.

A video project was set up quite simply with a Japanese orchestra from near Hiroshima.

anniversary concert

Such an anniversary must also be celebrated in a befitting manner: The MVE invites you to a concert on Sunday, July 10th at 7 p.m. in the event forum in Fürstenfeldbruck.

Visitors can look forward to a festive and entertaining program with some film themes in the large hall on the monastery grounds.

It plays the large symphonic orchestra and the JuBla of the music association.

Tickets for 15 euros are available in advance at the event forum Fürstenfeldbruck (online https://forumfuerstenfeld.reservix.de/) or at the box office.

A festival weekend is also planned at Gut Roggenstein on September 24th and 25th.
