The train accident near Garmisch claimed the lives of five people.

The question of why continues - now an investigation reveals an explosive letter.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – On June 3, one of the worst train accidents in Bavaria happened: a regional train derailed near Farchant in the Burgrain district, five people died and 16 were seriously injured.

Every fate of the casualties is a tragedy in itself - among other things, a teenager and two refugees from Ukraine were among the victims.

To this day, the question of the cause of the serious train accident has not been finally clarified.

There are many indications of technical defects on the route.

In this context, research by the SWR program "Mainz Report" is causing a stir.

According to research by Südwestrundfunk (SWR), several railway employees had already written a fire letter to their employer in 2019, warning of possible safety risks in the Deutsche Bahn (DB) route network.

Seven pages long and with an urgent call to action.

There is a lack of money and staff to carry out the necessary repairs.

Technical defects cause for serious train accident?

Employees wrote fire letters

Deutsche Bahn did not want to comment on the explosive letter, especially with regard to the serious train accident in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

However, there are many indications that technical defects are the cause of the catastrophe.

In a printed matter from the Bundestag Transport Committee, for example, there is talk of a rail shift and “concrete sleepers that have been partially damaged”.

According to "Report Mainz", the initiator of the letter commented on the situation as follows: "We, those responsible for the system, have become petitioners.

We had to beg for every penny of money.

That is what prompted us to write this letter at the time.” Deutsche Bahn did not want to confirm the existence of the letter, nor did it comment on its content.

The investigative sovereignty lies exclusively with the law enforcement authorities, they do not want to comment on ongoing investigations or anticipate them.
