The epidemic in Hong Kong continues to rebound. The Centre for Health Protection announced today (7th) that there were 3,028 new confirmed cases, hitting a nearly three-month high, and one more patient died.
201 new cases were reported by schools today. Among them, 80 schools had two or more cases in the past seven days. Class K3UKB of Canaan Kindergarten in Aberdeen and Class 6D of Lingliang Primary School in Ma On Shan were infected with two and three students respectively. , the authorities suggested that the classes involved should not be suspended for a week.
Two other homes were confirmed to be confirmed cases, namely, King Fook Nursing Home and Hong Chi Oi Tung Dormitory. Residents and close contacts are required to quarantine.

Of the new cases, 2,856 were locally confirmed cases, including 948 positive nucleic acid tests and 1,908 confirmed positive rapid antigen tests, together with 172 imported cases, representing a total of 3,028 new confirmed cases.
Looking through the data, the last time more than 3,000 confirmed cases were recorded in a single day was April 5, and a total of 3,254 cases were recorded on that day.
The fifth wave of positive cases has so far accumulated to 1,249,491 cases, with one additional death involving a 79-year-old woman who was not vaccinated.
The old woman had difficulty in mobility, rheumatoid arthritis and high blood pressure. She was admitted to the hospital earlier due to loss of appetite. The test result was positive, and her condition continued to deteriorate until her death yesterday.

The authorities received reports of infection cases from two residential homes yesterday, involving the King Fook Nursing Home and Hong Chi Oi Tung Hostel.
Two residents and a staff member of Jingfu Nursing Home have been diagnosed successively, and 21 residents on the same floor need to be quarantined.
A resident of Hong Chi Oi Tung Dormitory was infected with the virus. The patient visited the Jockey Club Hong Chi Siu Sai Wan workshop where a confirmed case was reported earlier. The authorities will include Hong Chi Oi Tung Dormitory within the scope of the mandatory testing announcement, and the resident and their close contacts must be quarantined .
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, pointed out that two residents and a staff member of Jingfu Nursing Home were infected with the virus.
She went on to say that since residential care involves a lot of care work, and residents are vulnerable to infection, she believes that it is important for residents to arrange vaccinations.
Three students in Ma'anshan Lingliang Primary School 6D tested positive for the virus, and the authorities recommended that classes be suspended for a week.

In terms of new cases reported by schools, 201 new cases were reported today, involving 180 schools, including 49 kindergartens, 66 primary schools, 62 secondary schools and 3 special schools.
Among them, 80 schools had two or more cases in the past seven days, including Canaan Kindergarten in Aberdeen, K3UKB with 16 students, two students were infected with the virus; Ma On Shan Lingliang Primary School 6D had three students diagnosed with the virus. There are 29 students in this class.
The authorities suggested that the two schools mentioned above should suspend classes for one week.
