The latest agreement between Israel and the United States ahead of the visa waiver was signed today (Thursday).

The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, signed the agreement together with the Deputy Ambassador of the United States to Israel and in the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Ayelet Shaked.

The agreement signed is part of the information sharing between the countries, and this time with the FBI.

As part of Israel's entry into the visa waiver program, Israel is required to meet several international thresholds that will allow it to enter the program.

At the beginning of March, Israel signed the first agreement regarding the sharing of information, and today a second agreement was signed, the last and most central of the two.

As part of the information sharing, the two countries will be able to check a thousand times a year a fingerprint taken from the other country and ask about citizens convicted of serious criminal offenses.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked welcomed the signing of the agreement and attacked the Likud for refusing to pass the two laws relating to the visa waiver program to the United States before the dissolution of the Knesset.

"Although the Likud is trying to delay the exemption of visas for citizens of the State of Israel who have ever been at the most advanced stage due to political considerations, we continue to run with all our might and promote further agreements that are necessary conditions for entry into the exemption program," Shaked said.

These are laws that regulate the United States' access to the databases of those entering and entering Israel, which are threshold conditions for inclusion in the visa exemption program.

Shaked has pledged to "continue to advance this all-important mission and intends to demand that it continue to engage in it even after the elections in order to bring the good news that all citizens of the State of Israel are so eagerly awaiting."

The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, added that the agreement signed is "of strategic importance to the State of Israel."

He added, "The agreement will establish mechanisms to increase cooperation between the Israeli government and the United States government in the fight against serious crime and terrorism, through advanced systems that will make it possible to monitor and locate suspicious elements."
