The summer holidays are starting and, with them, the fear that an epidemic resumption will play spoilsport.
On Monday, government spokesman Olivier Véran presented a bill providing for the possibility of establishing, from August 1, a health pass at the country's borders.
A measure immediately welcomed by the emergency physician Patrick Pelloux according to which this control has become "
necessary
".
But would it really limit the spread of the virus at the height of summer?
The bill, presented to the Council of Ministers and voted on in committee at the National Assembly on Wednesday, leaves the possibility for the government to impose a health pass from August 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The latter would apply “
at the borders or between mainland France, Corsica and the overseas territories
".
The health pass is not to be confused with the vaccination pass: it implies the possession of proof of vaccination, but also a certificate of recovery or a negative test for Covid-19.
In short, provisions which allow a priori to verify that you do not leave or enter the territory by being positive.
