Lessons are already underway, at least in two of the four new classrooms in the extension of the Moosinning primary school.

The building has now been officially inaugurated.

- "The jewel of the sky is the sun.

The jewel of the house is the child” – this Chinese saying is written on the school's homepage.

"And now we not only have children as jewels, but also the right house," said headmaster Markus Pfanzelt at the small ceremony on Wednesday morning in the newly created atrium.

"Anyone who doesn't know that we have a new school building won't even notice, because it fits so well into our playground," he addressed architect Markus Heilmaier and Michaela Teufel from the Heilmaier planning group, who "have so many ideas “ had contributed to the construction.

In general, Pfanzelt said many words of thanks - to the caretaker as well as to Gabriele Müller from the building authority and the cleaning staff, who ensured cleanliness during the construction phase.

Thanks also went to the students and teachers for coping so well with the noise and dust of everyday school life.

"This is also an extension of the history of the school," said Mayor Georg Nagler.

School is not just about imparting knowledge.

It is a place of encounter, of coming together.

The day awakens many personal memories in him, said Nagler.

After all, he went to the Moosinning primary school himself, just like his children do now.

“You create new memories here every day, you write another chapter in your book of life here every day.

We offer you the space for these experiences,” Nagler said to the children.

The modern rooms can be divided with partition walls - from a very large room to two smaller classrooms and a group room in between, any combination is possible.

He put the costs for the extension, in which four new classrooms were created, at 3.2 million euros, part of which the Free State of Bavaria is funding.

School Director Robert Leiter picked up the line from a song that the children sang together with the teachers Lisa Kroher and Daniela Trauner: “Together we are brave and strong.

It's nice all day.” – “And in such a great school building it's going to be even nicer,” said Leiter.

Due to the unavoidable closure of the school building in Eichenried, a clearly expected increase in classes and the introduction of open all-day care in the next school year, "this very important step" became necessary.

The fact that the community decided early on to build the extension is "impressive proof of their commitment to the education and upbringing of the children," said Leiter.

Open room design, combined with mobile partitions in the individual rooms

As reported, this decision was made in 2017, after which architect Heilmaier prepared the first drafts.

In the spring of 2019, the specialist planners were commissioned and the building application prepared.

The building permit was granted in May 2020, and the first workers arrived in October.

The topping-out ceremony was celebrated in September 2021.

But building a school isn't just building a new building, said Leiter.

A pedagogical concept is also linked to this.

Here, new paths have been trodden, so that the school building now supports contemporary pedagogy.

"The open room design, combined with mobile partition walls in the individual rooms, allows for a variety of uses and creates space for differentiating offers, free work and learning across classes," explained Leiter.

In this way, individual learning needs are met, “because every child learns differently”.

Social learning is supported thanks to the marketplace structures, and events such as reading competitions can also take place there.

A total of eleven classrooms are now available.

In addition, the operation of an open all-day school is possible, and an atrium with seating has been created in the playground, which is ideal for school events.

Parish vicar Thomas Belitzer asked for God's blessing for the cultivation.

“Bless this schoolhouse and all who teach and learn here.

Show them respect for one another,” said Belitzer, before everyone prayed together and the children sang at the end: “Thank you for this new school building, thank you for all the dear people.”
