Tehran-Sana
Iranian Revolutionary Guards intelligence has arrested some diplomats working in foreign embassies in Tehran for carrying out espionage work in prohibited areas in the country.
The IRNA news agency quoted the Revolutionary Guards as saying in a statement that these diplomats were carrying out espionage work and taking soil samples from various prohibited areas in the country instead of carrying out their diplomatic missions.
The statement pointed out that one of those individuals who was spotted was the British Assistant Ambassador, who had gone with his family to the Shahdad desert in Kerman province, southeast of Iran, under the cover of tourism, but the photos he took indicate that he was seeking to take soil samples in this area.
The statement indicated that the British diplomat was expelled from the city after he apologized.
