The wedding of Christian Lindner with his wife Franca Lehfeldt is the ultimate politician meeting on Sylt.
But: Punks, who are populating Westerland because of the 9-euro ticket, are also announcing themselves.
Munich/Sylt - The 9-euro ticket makes it possible: Since June, many punks from the left-wing autonomous scene and uninhibited drunkards have been traveling to the North Sea island of Sylt, which was previously a privileged hideaway for the rich in Germany.
On some days, dozens of punks lie and sit around the Wilhelminen fountain in Westerland.
They are supposed to leave behind dirt and rubbish, causing disturbances to the peace again and again.

And that causes resentment among locals and holidaymakers alike.
According to media reports, business people and restaurateurs who are said to be concerned about their sales filed complaints with their municipalities.
The municipality of Sylt drained the water at the fountain at the so-called "Fat Wilhelmine" in Westerland, because the punks had filled the fountain with beer bottles.
At times a fence was erected around the well, allegedly because it needed repairs.
After importing the 9-euro ticket: Many punks will meet in the summer of 2022 on the posh holiday island of Sylt.

That's not all: According to the Hamburger Abendblatt
, Sylt Mayor Nikolas Häckel turned
to the state government of Schleswig-Holstein and asked the North Friesland district police committee for help.
"They camp everywhere," a local retailer told the newspaper from the Hanseatic city.
According to the news portal

, a private security service has now been hired on Sylt to ensure order in Westerland.

To put this in perspective: the 9-euro ticket, extended monthly, is still valid between Bavaria and northern Germany until the end of August.
The traffic light federal government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) introduced this measure in public transport in order to at least somewhat curb energy prices in Germany in view of the sanctions against Russia in the Ukraine war.
So that more people can switch to buses and trains.
Which, according to initial findings, should work.
Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP), as guardian of the federal budget, played a key role in the development of the 9-euro ticket.
But: Exactly this measure could now become a problem for the Rhinelander.

In the posh beach restaurant in the southern district of Rantum, the political celebrities are supposed to celebrate in the evenings.
The online portal

quotes a punk with the alleged pseudonym "Socke": "We will hike to Zanzibar and congratulate Christian." There were also similar calls in forums on the Internet.
Is it quiet at the wedding?
Numerous security forces are said to be protecting the top politicians from Berlin and their other guests.
Even from uninvited guests.
