According to a media report, Elon Musk (51) and
Shivon Zilis
(36) have been parents of twins since November.
Musk and Zilis filed a request in April to have the children's names changed to "bear their father's last name," Business Insider reported on Wednesday, citing court documents.
A month later, a judge in Texas approved the request.
Zilis is the director of Musk's neurotechnology start-up, Neuralink.
The disclosure of the relationship could be problematic for Musk.
Most US companies the size of Tesla and SpaceX prohibit romantic relationships across two hierarchical levels.
Zilis is also being considered as one of the people Musk could hire to run Twitter following his $44 billion acquisition, the report said.
According to her Linkedin profile, Zilis has held various positions for Neuralink, Tesla and OpenAI, among others.
All three companies have close ties to Musk, who founded Neuralink, co-founded OpenAI, and took over as CEO of Tesla in 2008.
According to the Reuters news agency, it tried to get a statement from Musk and Zilis.
However, this has so far been unsuccessful.
The "Business Insider" also tried in vain to comment.
The birth of the twins in November would bring Musk's total children to nine.

Musk has five other children from his first marriage.
He was married to Canadian author
Justine Wilson
from 2000 to 2008 .
The couple had twins and triplets.
It wasn't until the end of June that one of Elon Musk's children made headlines: According to court documents, it wanted to have its name changed - to have its identity recognized as a woman and to distance itself from the famous father.
A few days ago, Musk tweeted a photo of his meeting with the Pope;
it also showed four of his children.
Musk sees "underpopulation" as the greatest threat to humanity
Musk himself responded Thursday with a series of tweets to reports in various media outlets that he was now a father of nine.
Musk wrote that he was doing his best to do something about the "underpopulation".
A declining birth rate is the greatest danger to humanity, the Tesla boss also fictionalized.
And he added: The population of the planet Mars remains at zero.
Such wisdom may not really help his official and unofficial descendants, but at least their livelihood and basic material security is taken care of.
