A 56-year-old worker surnamed Hung was suspected of falling from the 10th floor during the demolition work at the site. He suffered head, hand and foot injuries and fell into a coma.
Ambulancemen arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the injured to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment, but were eventually confirmed dead.
The police said that after preliminary investigation, it is believed that the male victim accidentally fell to the ground from the 10th floor of the upper site. The cause of his death is to be determined after an autopsy, and the case is classified as an industrial accident.
The Labour Department said it is investigating a fatal work accident in Mid-Levels in the morning in which a man died.
