A commemorative event organized by the Forstern Soldiers' and Reservists' Association was sparsely attended.

In the city of Erding, too, there is criticism of the involvement of elected officials.

Forstern/Erding

– The visit to the commemorative event on the occasion of “100 years of Forstern war memorial” was very manageable.

In the municipal council on Tuesday, Stefan Ganghofer, CSU councilor and chairman of the warrior and reservist association, addressed the topic again.

"The participation was really sobering," said Ganghofer.

The citizens could be counted on one hand, "and it wasn't much better with the representatives of the municipality".

It was more of a community event than a club event.

"We were disappointed because the turnout was so bad," admitted Ganghofer.

The work in the club is fun in itself - but not "when you see that nobody is interested".

He definitely wanted to point out that if there was no warrior association in Forstern, the community would have to take care of the war memorial.

He wanted to pass this on to his fellow councillors,

Rainer Streu (AWG) said that peace work distinguishes the Forsterner Verein.

"I think you have to do more on the subject at school and involve the students in order to get it into their heads again," said the mayor.

He could understand the annoyance.

But many clubs have the problem, and ultimately everyone has to decide for themselves which event to attend.

Erding's Mayor Gotz: "It would be nice if events were attended by more city councilors"

With a view to the participation of elected representatives, Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) also said in Erding's city council last Thursday: "I hear it again and again from citizens, and I notice it myself: It would be nice if events were attended by more city councillors would."

He sees the mandate not only in visiting the city council and the committees, but also in attending events.

It is very badly received by the public if politics does not show up.

The parliamentary groups could agree who to send.

He said that against the background of the district festival in Klettham-Nord on Saturday, July 23rd.
