British Airways has announced plans to cancel 10,300 short-haul flights in the coming months.

The reason for this is said to be a change in British air traffic.

London – Summer is here.

Finally you can stay outside until late in the evening and enjoy the well-deserved rays of sunshine with sunglasses and shorts.

There is hardly anything more beautiful.

The blue sky and the high temperatures of the last few weeks should also put many people in a good mood to travel.

While it hasn't always been that easy for passionate vacationers in the last two years, Italy, Mallorca and other popular tourist strongholds will now be attracting the masses again in the coming months.

Getting there on holiday could prove a little tricky this season though.

Because many airlines are increasingly reporting cancellations and canceled flights, and at the airports themselves there are often long queues and even longer waiting times due to a lack of staff.

Relaxed start to the family vacation?

Unfortunately none.

British Airways cancels 10,300 flights: airline wants to protect holiday flights

After many other airlines either went on strike or canceled countless flights in the last few weeks and months, British Airways is now putting a spanner in the works for many air travelers.

Because, as the company, based in the London district of Hillingdon, announced, 10,300 short-haul flights are to be canceled by the end of the holiday season in October.

If you are traveling to or from the UK and have already booked a scheduled flight, you may have to reschedule again.

British Airways Cancels 10,300 Flights: New Rules Cause Cancellations

The reason for the far-reaching cancellation campaign is likely to be a drastic change in air traffic.

As many airlines and airports have been struggling with staff shortages for some time, the UK government has introduced a rule that allows airlines to cancel flights without consequences.

Previously, there was a risk of losing the valuable right to take off at an airport if there were frequent cancellations.

All cancellations reported by this Friday no longer have any negative effects on the provider with the new regulation.

Convenient for the company, incredibly annoying for all guests.

According to British Airways, the cancellation of so many short-haul flights should ensure that the holiday flights can take place without any problems.

"While the majority of our flights are unaffected and the majority of customers are able to travel as planned, we don't underestimate the impact this will have," the airline confirmed.

It is still a pity that such a campaign makes travel easier for vacationers, but all other travelers now have to rebook or have the price refunded.

Could the whole thing have been solved in a smarter way?
