Today (7th) is the 85th anniversary of the July 7 Incident. The Diaoyu Action Committee launched a parade from the Central Post Office to the Japanese consulate. Before the parade, it issued a July 7 declaration demanding an official apology from the Japanese side.

Zeng Jiancheng, a member of the People's Association of People's Republic of China, said that he did not agree that the current parade would touch the nerves of the government.

Ou Boquan, vice chairman of the Diaoyu Action Committee, added that this year's parade was in accordance with the police's instructions and followed the procedures, and there was no objection.

At about 10:45 this morning, four members of the Action Committee for Protecting Diaoyu Islands displayed a banner reading "Don't forget the July 7 Incident, Japan's invasion of China, overthrow militarism and defend the Diaoyu Islands" outside the Central Post Office.

Before the parade, they shouted slogans including "Don't forget the suffering of aggression against China", "Japan must apologize and compensate", "Down with Japanese militarism", "Get out of the Diaoyutai Islands", "Down with the US-Japan Security Treaty" and so on.

Diaoyu Action Committee reprimands Japan for not formally apologizing

The parade started at about 11:00, and at 11:00, it arrived at the demonstration area set up by the police near the Japanese Consulate General in Hong Kong, that is, outside the IFC.

The committee pointed out that today, 85 years ago, Japan began to invade China. Today's parade is to let people know that there are still people who remember Japan's history of aggression against China. Japan has yet to make a formal apology, and it criticizes Japan's intention to "deny it".

The committee also read the July 7 Declaration on the spot, pointing out that July 7 is an unforgettable number for generations of Chinese people, paying tribute to those who participated in the war, rebuking Japan's militarism for bringing disaster to China, and demanding an official apology from the Japanese side.

The committee continued that no matter how the world changes, it will continue to protest at the Japanese consulate.

Tsang Kin-shing does not think the parade has touched the nerves of the Hong Kong government, but individual groups did not participate this year

Zeng Jiancheng added that he did not think that the current parade would touch the nerves of the government, and continued that it was "doing what it should do" to continue to hold activities to denounce the Japanese side.
