The portal for short trips kurz-mal-weg.de investigated this question and examined 190 weekly markets in the six largest cities in the country - Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.

Two markets in the Hanseatic city are also among the top 10.

However, the ranking for the best weekly market is dominated by – who would have thought it – the banking metropolis of Frankfurt.

The testers found that three of the ten best weekly markets in the Federal Republic are located in the largest city in Hesse, as reported by 24hamburg.de.

Third place went to the well-known weekly market in Hamburg, the Isemarkt in Hoheluft / Eppendorf, one of the most popular and well-known weekly markets in the Hanseatic city, which not only impressed visitors but also the jury with its extraordinary location: the approximately 200 stalls of the market are lined up like a string of pearls directly on the banks of the Isebek Canal under the elevated railway viaduct.

As the Abendblatt reports, four categories were used for the ranking of the weekly market - the choice is not always clear, however.

The number of market stalls was rated, as was the connection to public transport (within a 5-minute radius), but also Google ratings and the walking distance to the main train station in kilometers.

From a total of 20 points to be awarded, the Isemarkt achieved 13.7 in the kurz-mal-weg.de test - 3rd place among all tested weekly markets in Germany.

Best weekly market in Germany: Munich ahead of Frankfurt and Hamburg

According to the test, Germany's best weekly market is in Munich - the weekly market on the Viktualienmarkt leads the list with 16.6 points - 49,442 Google reviews were included in the evaluation.
