The Hanukkah ceremony will include 300 new housing units • The US administration has made it clear: "Opposing expansion of settlements exacerbates tensions"

Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu will attend a inauguration of a new neighborhood of 300 housing units in Beit El on Tuesday, a day before President Biden's visit to Israel. A notice published during the visit regarding the promotion of construction plans in Judea and Samaria.

The situation is now different, since Netanyahu is not the prime minister, but it can be assumed that the White House does not like the move.

According to the protocol, a US president visiting the country is scheduled to meet with the opposition chairman and it is not yet known whether this move will have an impact on the planned meeting between the two leaders.

In May, the administration condemned the decision of the Supreme Planning Council of Judea and Samaria to promote at various stages construction plans for about 4,000 housing units, including in relatively isolated outposts.

Jerusalem then explained to the Americans that the decision was necessary to maintain the stability of the coalition, and accordingly it was unofficially agreed that Washington would issue a condemnation of the move but would not cancel the president's planned visit because of him.

"The Biden administration has made it clear from the outset: We oppose the expansion of settlements, which is exacerbating tensions and undermining trust between the parties.
