Hallbergmoos has extended the gravel quarrying permit in the Brandstadl for the fourth and probably last time.

It is questionable whether the schedule will be adhered to.

- KFE GmbH & Co. KG may continue to work on the site in the Isar floodplains until the end of 2032.

The operator then has until the end of 2034 to recultivate and remove the gravel works.

However, the Council would like to know whether the timetable will be respected this time.

The company is to present the state of affairs in five years.

Originally, the gravel quarrying in the Isar meadows should have ended at the end of 2012

“I am not fundamentally against the extension of the deadline.

But I would like to know an end date," said Christiane Oldenburg-Balden (SPD).

Originally, the gravel quarrying in the Isar meadows should have ended at the end of 2012.

In the meantime, the municipality has approved an extension in 2011, 2014 and 2015 - this last applied until December 31, 2024.

27 hectares are available for biotope development

Approximately seven hectares can currently still be mined on the approved area.

Depending on the order situation, around one hectare is mined every year, so the company estimates that the remaining mining will take about seven years.

After completion of the gravel quarrying, the rest of the backfilling and the recultivation work still have to be carried out, for which three years are still available.

From the company's point of view, it is said that the extension of the deadline by ten years is "realistic" from today's perspective.

Once the gravel extraction is complete, 27 hectares will be available for biotope development.

Around 3.7 hectares will be reforested.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Robert Wäger (Greens) demanded a progress report from KFE GmbH & Co. KG in five years.

The council included this in its decision.

Mayor Josef Niedermair (CSU), however, emphasized that the recultivation of the areas "creates something beautiful and better".

And: "Everyone needs gravel."
