Wolfratshausen – The parents from Waldram are fighting to stay up: the fifth grade of the middle school in the district is to be taught at Hammerschmiedweg in the coming school year.
An initiative collected 1200 signatures to prevent this.
Now the parents' council from Hammerschmiedweg has spoken - and is in favor of the move.

"For a long time we kept ourselves neutral," says a letter to all parents of the school on Hammerschmiedweg.
"However, the current development shows that we support the decision of our school management, the city council and the culture committee." From the point of view of the advisory board, "the advantages for the entirety of the students of both schools outweigh possible disadvantages of individual students".

The parents' council lists arguments for all three options - the variant that has already been decided, one class per location and both classes in Waldram.
He comes to the conclusion: "All students benefit from a two-track system at Hammerschmiedweg." The idea of forming one class at both schools failed due to the significantly greater need for teacher hours that would be made available to the school network.
The double single move is “at the expense of the funding offers at both schools and at the expense of other schools in the school network”.
This effect would increase in the coming years, because the demand from the seventh grade will continue to increase.
And both classes in Waldram?
"This is not a realistic variant, since no open all-day care can be offered in Waldram and (...) there are not enough rooms available," judges the parents' council.

The chairwoman, Melanie Lehnert, said when asked by our newspaper: "We don't want to start a dispute between the parents." After the public discussion, however, it was a concern of the group to make it clear "that we support this decision".

One of the arguments put forward by the Waldram parents is that major construction work is pending at the school in Wolfratshausen.
The school is being renovated and expanded.
"We don't take a very critical view of this construction site," says Lehnert.
Work is only done in empty buildings, and the parents were repeatedly consulted during the planning phase.

Citizens' meeting is pending - Waldramer parents could force the city council to sit in detention
As reported, the opponents of the fifth-class move could submit an application to the citizens' assembly and force the city council to decide on the issue again.
The parents of the Hammerschmied School take a critical view of this: "That would be very short-term and we support the current decision." The letter closes with an appeal: "Please get involved with our middle school in Wolfratshausen as part of the citizens' meeting." This will take place on Tuesday , July 12, in the Loisachhalle.
