The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission warned today of the deteriorating health condition of the Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in the Israeli occupation prisons, Raed Rayan and Khalil Awawda.
And the Palestinian Wafa Agency quoted the authority as saying in a statement that the prisoner, Rayan, 27, who is being held in Ramle prison, continues his strike for the 92nd day, and his health condition is getting more serious. In a wheelchair, the occupation refuses to release him.
The commission indicated that the 40-year-old prisoner, Awawda, continues his second hunger strike for the sixth day in protest against the Israeli occupation authorities' reversal of his release, and his health condition is very serious, after he has lost a lot of weight and suffers from wasting, difficulty speaking, severe pains throughout his body, and cases of continuous vomiting and atrophy. in the muscles.
On June 21, Awawda suspended his hunger strike, which lasted for 111 days, after the occupation authorities pledged to release him on the 26th of the same month.
The commission called on international and humanitarian institutions, led by the International Committee of the Red Cross and human rights institutions, to intervene immediately and urgently and to play their necessary role towards the issue of prisoners, especially patients and hunger strikers, and to put pressure on the occupation authorities to stop their practices against them, foremost of which is the policy of medical negligence (slow death).
Yesterday, the commission warned of the deterioration of the health status of three prisoners in the Negev detention center as a result of the practices of the occupation authorities against them, foremost of which is deliberate medical negligence.
