Thoracic and breast surgery specialist, Dr. Rafik Abdel Aal, stressed the need to combine all efforts to support women's health and safety by spreading the culture of self-examination among girls and women on a regular basis and performing a mammogram for those over the age of forty years.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Abdel-Aal called on girls and women to follow a healthy lifestyle because it reduces 25% of the risk of contracting the disease and also reduces the feeling of fear and panic in the event of any change or the appearance of a lump on the breast and the initiative to review the specialist doctor or any medical institution, pointing out the importance of Early detection and the need to raise health awareness of breast cancer among women to overcome their fear, whether through national campaigns and educational sessions or through a private gynecologist.

Abdel-Aal pointed out that there are three methods for early detection of breast cancer, the first of which is self-examination, which is necessary to find out any changes in the breast. The second method is a clinical examination conducted by the specialist as a result of the appearance of certain symptoms, and the third is radiography, both of which are echo and mammogram.

Abdel-Aal pointed to a number of factors that increase the risk of breast cancer, including uncontrollable factors linked to human sex. Women are more susceptible to infection than men and age, as the risk of infection increases with age, genetics, the presence of a family history, early and late menstruation, and their relationship to the secretion of estrogen, which is considered a fuel For breast cancer, the controllable factors include improper lifestyle and malpractices such as not doing any physical activity, smoking, alcohol, obesity, eating fast food rich in harmful fats and processed oils, and a diet free of vegetables and fruits.

Dr. Abdel-Aal pointed out that the latest scientific studies have proven that the factor of stress and anxiety may be one of the causes of breast cancer.
