A 34-year-old sergeant was sentenced on Thursday July 7 by the Créteil court to an eight-month suspended prison sentence for having harassed, sexually or morally, three policewomen who worked with him at the Champigny-sur-Marne police station.

The man, who now works in Seine-et-Marne, was also sentenced to compulsory psychiatric care and a ban on contact with his victims.

He will also have to take a course in the fight against sexism.

He will be able to continue to work as a policeman, having not been sentenced to a ban on exercising his profession.

He was on trial for making repeated advances of a sexual nature to four of his subordinates and then harassing them when they pushed him away.

The man was found guilty of sexual harassment against three of the victims, moral harassment against two of them, and was acquitted of the charges by the fourth complainant.

According to the statements of these women read during the hearing in June, Jonathan L., dismissed, called them "

dirty whore

" in particular in front of colleagues and "

attributed to them unproven professional shortcomings

".

A “somewhat special humor”

On the stand, these women also recounted inappropriate thoughts about their spouse or lover, including “

trashy

” rumors peddled about their sex life.

The policeman had defended himself by putting forward a “

somewhat particular humor

”.

He also described a climate of schoolboy camaraderie, "

in a police environment (which) is our second family

", where officials rub shoulders outside of working hours.

It was important for us that there be a sentence pronounced against him, regardless of the quantum, so that we recognize that we are not liars

”, reacted one of the victims at the end of the deliberation.

During the hearing, the prosecution had requested a five-month suspended prison sentence against the police officer, who was not present Thursday at the Créteil court to listen to the deliberations.
