The situation on the real estate market is tense.

The industry association GdW fears the insolvency of housing companies and calls on the state to act.

Berlin – Vonovia, Germany's largest real estate group, will turn down the heating for tenants at night.

Namely between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., as the company announced.

Among other things, the

had reported.

During the day, however, you want to heat as usual.

It will not get older than 17 degrees at night.

The reason is the energy crisis.

The hot water supply when showering or bathing is not affected by the throttling.

The heating temperature should be changed during routine maintenance before the start of the heating period.

In a tenant notice, Vonovia emphasized that the company, as a responsible landlord, wanted to save gas and limit heating costs by taking this step.

It was previously announced that Vonovia would like to increase rents because of inflation.

The night reduction would save up to eight percent of the heating effort.

"The situation is more than dramatic, and social peace in Germany is in massive danger," said the industry association GdW.

A one-person household would have to reckon with an additional burden of 508 euros per year.

Even more significant increases are possible.

If necessary, the state would have to step in to save housing companies from collapsing.
