Zhang Jie, a well-known pediatric specialist, is suspected of attending beauty product events and making personal promotions as a non-pediatric specialist from 2011 to 2014.

The Medical Council held a disciplinary hearing today (7th) and Zhang Jie was charged with four counts of violating the Code of Practice for Publicity.

Zhang Jie testified today that only after receiving a complaint from the Medical Commission in 2021 did he know that his articles and photos of attending events and undergoing treatment were posted on the Internet.

What I attended at that time were all internal events, only to share and educate the company's guests about the knowledge of beauty and skin care, not for product promotion, "I didn't know I would send people a post."

The hearing was not concluded until the evening, and it was adjourned to October 8 for further hearing.

According to the case, in 2011, an online blogger uploaded an article titled "Learn How to Arouse and Regenerate Facial Collagen", showing that Zhang Jie attended the "Sculptra Shaping the Visual Age of 10 Years of Youth".

In 2012, an online blogger published an article stating that Zhang Jie attended the press conference of the Taiwanese brand "Confessional Skin", and his titles at the press conference were "Medical Director of Kang Shimei Dermatology Center".

On January 20, 2014, Ms. Guo received the HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) beauty treatment provided by Zhang Jie, and later shared the photos of the treatment on her "Longfeng Mom" blog.

Later, Zhang Jie and Guo attended the "Longfeng Mother HIFU Experience Sharing Session" and displayed their titles as "Medical Director of Xinjie Medical Group".

Defendant Zhang Jie stated in his written testimony that he attended the "Sculptra 10-Year Visual Age Symposium" in 2011 and did not know whether there were internet bloggers in the audience, but today he gave oral testimony, saying, "I have an impression of baa audience, but I can't find any substantive evidence." The chairman of the hearing panel, Liu Yunyi, questioned why he suddenly changed his testimony "against Taiwan". Zhang pointed out that a lawyer previously suggested that he "have evidence to speak, but if there is no evidence to speak," he adopted his suggestion.

As for the 2012 Taiwanese brand "Confessional Skin" press conference, Zhang Jie pointed out that the brand invited him to attend the event. At that time, he was teaching internal staff about skin moisturizing, aiming at education. He didn't know the nature of the event for the press conference. "Taiwan is so strict, you can't post (articles/photos) around", so I didn't notice anything wrong.

He bluntly stated that in order to avoid being suspected of being propaganda, the part of the briefing that he was responsible for explaining was "all done by himself" to ensure that there was no "confessional muscle" sign.

However, he did not notice that Gao Feng was marked with a "confessional muscle", and the photo of him holding Gao Feng was posted on the Internet, and he admitted that he was not sensitive enough.

In addition, the prosecution's lawyer asked why the title of non-pediatrician was used at the event. Zhang responded that the title of "Medical Director of Kang Shimei Dermatology Center" will only be used when the company is represented.

In 2014, Zhang Jie was conducting beauty treatment for Miss Guo at that time. Guo expressed to her that she wished to take pictures during the treatment. Zhang believed that she was an old customer, so she allowed her to take pictures.

Zhang said, "My name is Ya, so I don't want to post randomly, so I don't want to sue me." At that time, Guo promised that he would not publish it publicly, but Guo posted the photo on social media.

Later, Zhang Jie and Miss Guo attended the "Longfeng Mother HIFU Experience Sharing Session". At that time, Guo took a photo of the event and uploaded it to the social media platform.

Zhang finally learned of the incident after receiving a complaint from the Medical Council, and tried to contact him via email to delete the photo, but to no avail, saying that he could not get in touch with Guo.

Liu Yunyi questioned, "You closed your email and turned back, but you didn't even write .hk."

Liu Yunyi emphasized that doctors cannot promote products to any customers, and pointed out that Zhang attended internal activities and told customers that HIFU belongs to advertisements "Advertising is promotion".

Zhang Jie pointed out, "I know clearly that I can't promote it outside. I haven't thought about it a lot, so I don't do it deliberately."

The hearing did not end until 6:00 pm, and the trial will continue on October 8 this year.
