Today, the last batch of the Syrian delegation participating in the Mediterranean Games, which recently concluded its competitions in the Algerian city of Oran, has arrived, which includes the administrative, medical and media staff, in addition to the Olympic champion Maan Asaad, who won a gold and a silver medal in weightlifting.

SANA's camera was received by the mission at the Syrian-Lebanese border point in Jdeidet Yabous, coming from Algeria, crowned with an important achievement represented by winning seven medals, including four gold and three silver.

Member of the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation and head of the mission, Bashir Abboud, indicated that the Syrian players were the focus of the attention of all the followers of the Mediterranean course for their high technical performance, reaching the podiums after their superiority over their counterparts from different countries of the world.

The representative of the Syrian Olympic Committee, Shatha Al-Jarwan, explained that the Syrian sport proved its height in the Mediterranean tournament, despite the strong competition that the tournament witnessed by players from Algeria, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Greece and other countries, pointing to the need to continue effort and training to achieve more successes in the upcoming benefits.

Member of the Executive Office and Head of the Athletics Office, Muhammad Al-Hayek confirmed that strength games such as boxing, weightlifting and others, wherever they are, are crowned with their title, indicating that this session witnessed strong competition and we won gold in boxing, gold and silver in weightlifting, in addition to my gold, equestrian silver and athletics silver.

The President of the Weightlifting Federation Hassanein Al-Sheikh saw that this achievement was the result of training and preparations long before it was due and within a specific plan and strategy by the Game Federation, which spared no effort in supporting champions who achieve honorable results for Syrian sports in general and weightlifting in particular.

The gold and silver holder of over 102 kg Olympic champion Maan Asaad said: The achievement that was achieved in the Mediterranean tournament is unprecedented because I broke Syrian, Arab, Asian and Mediterranean records after lifting 247 kg in the netter competitions and 197 kg in the kidnapping, pointing out that these two medals did not come out of nowhere. The result of continuous training, fatigue and support from the General Sports Federation.

Coach Qais Asaad explained that his brother, Maan, was committed to the training, and his goal was to achieve the gold medal in the middle and achieved it, because the biggest and most prominent ambition during the coming period is the ideal preparation to reach the gold of the Paris Olympics 2024 AD.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian delegation, which participated in the Mediterranean Tournament in Oran, Algeria, achieved four golds through the equestrian team for teams, jockey Ahmed Hamsho in singles, boxing Ahmed Ghosoun and weightlifter Maan Asaad in the net, three silvers through Majd al-Din Ghazal in the high jump, and the jockey Shadi Gharib in singles jumping and Maan Asaad in kidnapping.
