Officially inaugurated: celebration for the extension of the secondary school in Gmund

Gmund – The rooms in the extension of the Tegernseer Tal secondary school have been in use for some time and have now been officially inaugurated.

24 years ago, the former Federal President Roman Herzog coined a sentence that is still the unofficial motto of the technology location Bavaria: "Here, lederhosen and laptop have entered into a symbiosis." A sentence that can also be heard without hesitation at the Tegernseer Tal secondary school in Gmund can say.

Now the extension of the Realschule Tegernseer Tal has been officially inaugurated.

Divided over 34 by 13 meters and two floors, there are also five classrooms as well as two offices and sanitary facilities.

However, it is not the building itself, but the state-of-the-art equipment that is special in a Bavarian comparison.

Digital transformation in the classroom

The room ventilation is controlled by computer and includes CO2 measuring devices in addition to heat exchangers for temperature control.

In the classrooms, the conventional blackboards have been replaced by 86-inch digital whiteboards that are controlled via laptops or mobile devices.

The use of the digital boards makes the lessons more interactive and the teaching content can be conveyed more clearly.

In this way, 3D models can be viewed from different perspectives or a better look at body cells in biology class.

True to the awards as a reference school for media education (2015), MINT-friendly school (2019) and digital school (2020), the school is strengthening its claim with the expansion to give the students the best possible education as tools for their future life - and now wants to go one step further, because against the background of the further improved technical equipment, the school has successfully applied for the pilot project "Digital School of the Future", which will start in the 2022/2023 school year.

Headmaster Tobias Schreiner therefore emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the classroom at the inauguration: "Digitization has changed everything: we work differently, we communicate differently, we organize ourselves differently and it is only logical that learning at school should also be of a digital culture has to change so that we can give our students the skills they need in the 21st century.”

Rising student numbers expected in Gmund

At the ceremony in the presence of students, parents and teachers, Miesbach district administrator Olaf von Löwis thanked those responsible in the district office and ministry of culture as well as all valley mayors and church representatives, everyone involved: “It is great what you have done for the students.
