Penzberg - Meeting of the Penzberg SPD: criticism of the political opponent, a renewed rejection of a green preservation statute and a request for the Monday demos in the city center.

This election defeat in March 2020 hurt.

The traditional city council majority lost and also the mayoralty.

No wonder that the SPD local association found it difficult to get back on track afterwards.

In the meantime, one seems to have come to terms with the role of the opposition party.

At least if you listened to the words of parliamentary group leader Adrian Leinweber at the most recent general meeting.

In the small hall of the town hall, the veteran city councilor admitted that "at the beginning we fell into a bit of a hole".

But, one is now “the faction that does the best local political work,” Leinweber emphasized in the direction of the around 20 people present.

One has certainly been successful across political borders in the committee, so his conclusion: "If you do sensible work, you will find majorities." Although, Leinweber could not refrain from a dig at the Greens and Penzberg Miteinander (PM), it sometimes "Really hard work" is - in the face of "real Greens and imitation Greens".

Corona demos a topic

As an example, he cited the recent debates about the PM motion for a green preservation statute, which was clearly rejected in the city council.

"None of us liked that," Leinweber justified his group's no.

"We don't want paternalism." Leinweber, who had alternatively brought up a green guide for those wanting to build, thinks little of an extra statute.

"It can't be checked at all.

That would only have created bureaucracy.”

In his review of the past months of the SPD, local chairman Clemens Meikis used the opportunity to justify the latest political initiative by the local association and parliamentary group.

In May, an inquiry was submitted to the city: It was about the Monday Corona demos and their background.

The pandemic restrictions had been relaxed, Meikis said, "but the demonstrations in the city just kept going."

The Social Democrats do not want to shake the freedom to demonstrate (“Everyone should take to the streets for their happiness”), but they do need more information about organizers and topics “in the middle of the city”.

At the end of the protest marches, which had been dormant since May, there were "relatively any topics," said Meikis.

One thing is very important for the SPD: “We have to know exactly what is at stake.

Corona demos: 19,300 euros costs for building yard

According to the city administration, the organizers of the Corona demos are exclusively private individuals and not political parties or associations.

The meeting notices are mainly resident in Penzberg.

According to Rundschau information, Benediktbeurer and Iffeldorfer also registered rallies.

The first protest march took place in December 2021, the last for the time being on May 30th, registered by a Penzberger.

According to the town hall, at the beginning of 2022 the topics were still focused on corona measures, especially against compulsory vaccination.

Since the Ukraine war, it has also been about peace.

"Criminal law or other police-relevant content was not found at the meetings," the town hall refers to a statement from the Penzberg police inspection in coordination with the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South.

According to the town hall, the costs per event vary.

They are calculated according to the personnel and technical effort.

In general, a protest march through the city center causes more effort than a stationary assembly on the town square.

The city states the total costs of the building yard for the events at around 19,300 euros.

In addition, there are costs for administration and monitoring of the process.

The administration had one to three employees per appointment, the building yard three to five employees.

Then came the police and ambulance.

According to the town hall, moving the protests to another location is “almost impossible” due to the right of assembly.

But now there is a break: According to information from the last organizer, no meetings should take place over the summer.

However, an exact time was not given.

Penzberg's former mayor, Hans Mummert, broke a lance for photovoltaics, namely in the form of open-space systems.

As reported, the municipal utilities are planning something like this at Gut Hub.

"Energy transition is also changing the landscape," made clear Mummert, who also sits on the board of directors of the Oberland energy transition.
