In the summer of 2022, many vacationers will be drawn back to sunny foreign countries - compared to the pre-Corona year 2019, however, flight prices have risen significantly.
If you want to take a vacation this year, you have to put a lot more on the table for flights than before the pandemic.
This applies above all to the top 10 most popular travel destinations this summer, as the comparison portal Check24 has determined.
For flights to Spain, which has a coveted holiday destination in Mallorca, the prices have even gone up
by 65 percent
.
Before Corona, travelers paid an average of 165 euros for return flights – now the average is 272 euros.
This puts
Spain at the forefront of price increases
.
Close behind are Italy with a 58 percent increase in ticket prices and Portugal with 52 percent.
More than two years after the start of the pandemic, there are clear increases in air fares.

Biggest price increase for flights to Spain
"The main reasons for significantly more expensive air travel are
inflation and the increase in the cost of kerosene
," says Christian Meier, Managing Director Flights at Check24.
"At the same time, there is an increased demand for air travel on airlines that have significantly reduced their fleets and thus a reduced offer." The thinning of the staff has already become apparent in the last few weeks: At the check-ins, there was a build-up at various airports Germany's long queues, orphaned suitcases stand next to the baggage carousel and numerous flights have been canceled at short notice.
The Ministry of Consumption is even threatening to review the advance payment model for flight bookings in order to save customers from having to wait months for a refund.
