Covid regulations still apply to the court.

Masks are no longer compulsory, but numerous glass partitions separate the accused and their lawyers from each other.

Fürstenfeldbruck – The hall is thus densely populated when a gang of five Turkish men have to answer to the Munich II district court.

They are said to have technically manipulated slot machines in amusement arcades and restaurants in the Fürstenfeldbruck area.

The loot was considerable: the men pocketed more than half a million euros.

The case is listed as computer fraud.

The accused are a warehouse worker (47) from Fürstenfeldbruck, a 55-year-old from Obernburg am Main, a 50-year-old without a permanent address, a 30-year-old and a 28-year-old from Dortmund.

Technically sophisticated

According to the public prosecutor, the first three suspects worked together to crack slot machines from May 25, 2019 at the latest until their arrest on the night of September 17/18, 2020.

In doing so, they proceeded in a technically sophisticated manner.

Through a combination of unauthorized mechanical and electronic or magnetic influences and unauthorized use of the individual PIN numbers of the machine operators, they caused the control software of the machines to pay out cash to them.

Completely independent of a game.

In an arcade

It all started when the 55-year-old and the 50-year-old approached the 47-year-old Brucker in an arcade because he was a regular in the game scene.

At first they approached him on the pretext of an interest in buying used cars.

Then they soon turned to his knowledge of ATM PIN codes.

Brucker got on board and then took on the task of establishing contacts with the supervisors he already knew – and assessing their willingness not to check him and his companions more closely for a fee, to refill the machines with cash several times and to make the duty rosters available to deliver.

A separate investigation will be carried out against some employees.

The two Dortmunders joined on August 4, 2020 at the latest, with the 28-year-old being the son of the 50-year-old.

own tools

The public prosecutor then read out the exact technical procedure of the gang in detail.

In line with the shared division of labor, the man from Obernburg and the two people from Dortmund, who were responsible for manipulating the devices and were correspondingly technically adept, used different tools, some of which they had made and adapted themselves, such as drills, wedges, screwdrivers, wires and magnets.

Until they were discovered by an operator and reported on July 21, 2020.

Lots of crimes

In detail, the public prosecutor's office lists a number of crimes: In a casino in Bruck, the gang struck 189 times and stole around 280,000 euros.

In another arcade there were 139 cases with damage of around 230,000 euros.

In a Munich game library, the men captured 5770 euros, in another they failed.

In an establishment in Olching, they struck 14 times and took away almost 28,000 euros.

In Schweiterkirchen it was 364 euros.

In preliminary talks, those involved in the trial have already talked about possible penalties in the event of a confession.

The court could imagine four years in prison for the 50-year-old and the 55-year-old and two years on probation for the 30-year-old.

Nothing has yet been discussed for the other two defendants.

The trial is scheduled for another seven days.
